The campaign

Race2Recovery is a charitable campaign centred on a team of injured servicemen, who will compete in and complete the 2013 Dakar rally, universally regarded as the most gruelling motorsport event on Earth. It aims to demonstrate what can be achieved by, and to inspire, seriously wounded and disabled ex-servicemen, women and civilians alike, through the team’s achievements. In so doing, the hope is to raise and maintain public awareness towards the plight of the servicemen and women who have been injured on operations, and show how they can return to a normal or extraordinary life with no limitations, through determination, support and camaraderie. Critically, Race2Recovery will aim to use any exposure to the public, media and corporate partnership, to raise significant funds for the beneficiary charities that have helped so many injured servicemen and women, and in this manner, seek to assist those affected by conflict.

Beneficiaries

Tedworth House (TH) is ideally located for its role as a Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre (PRAC). It is based in the garrison town of Tidworth and the surrounding area is home to many other military units.

‘At Tedworth’ is a Help for Heroes project that will be implementing the ground breaking concept of a ‘One Stop Welfare Shop’. As well as the MoD, Army and H4H offices, there will be a large office where the specialist delivery agencies, local social services and charities can provide a joint solution to the individual’s needs - a so called ‘Corridor of the Charities’, each contributing their specialist skills and services.

The Royal British Legion, Combat Stress, St Dunstan’s, the Army Benevolent Fund and all of the other charities will be available in one place, which will mean that the residents can receive everything they need all in one place. Whether advice on marriage, financial issues, housing or help with prosthetics, it can all be obtained at TH. With this range of specialists under one roof, the intention is that an injured individual seeking help can just show up, or make one phone call, to get the specialist support he or she needs - whatever the issue. The ‘corridor of charities’ at TH will mean that at any stage in their recovery process, no one will slip through the net.

All fundraising through Race2Recovery will go to the above beneficiaries. 100% of donations received, with any additional gift aid generated will be passed directly on. All members of the team are unpaid volunteers, and there are no overheads for the R2R Foundation - any of our very limited admin costs/overheads are funded by the R2R Racing Team Ltd, and therefore every penny in the pound raised will go towards our beneficiaries.

Poole Football Supporters Club

Apex CB Financial Planning has supported the youth and community work of Poole Borough Football Club as part of our committment to improving local communities.

The Supporters' Club was first formed in 1946 as Poole Town Football Supporters' Club and remained that way until 1998 when the current directors of Poole Town Football Club decided to sever their ties with their Supporters’ Club.

After the split with Poole Town Football Club the Supporters’ Club has progressed in its’ activities to provide a new Football Stadium for the borough, having already provided the major infrastructure for the previous stadium. With our new aims, the clubs fund-raising, including the new 3-Score Lottery has increased dramatically.

Apex CB proudly supports the youth work undertaken by the club for the benefit of the community and our young people.
